Introducing the Burley Cameras focusing cloths (also known as dark cloths!):

• “Minor” 47x47” / 120x120cm / approx. 800 grams. Recommended for formats up to and including Whole Plate* 6 1/2 x 8 1/2” cameras. (Pictured in use with a 4x5” Field camera).

• “Major” 56x65” / 143x165cm / approx. 1300 grams. Recommended for formats larger than, and including, Whole Plate* 6 1/2 x 8 1/2”.

• 100% High Quality Cotton (Dry Clean Only)

• Traditional black cotton inner. Smart burgundy cotton outer. Gold edges.

• Weighted corners

A traditional focusing cloth like this works by being heavy enough to pull itself taut between your head and the ground glass, allowing for quick framing and focusing. A traditional-type focusing cloth has the advantages of being:

• Universal - easy to use on several camera types/formats.

• Quickly detachable - safer in case of sudden windy weather.

• Open to the environment - more pleasant working conditions, the ability to easily operate camera movements, and the ability to see your feet is beneficial in unusual surroundings.

*For Whole Plate cameras, the “Minor” cloth is recommended for field types (Watson Acme, Gandolfi Precision etc.) and the “Major” cloth for studio type cameras (Kodak, Ross, etc.)
